When I look back to about 10 years ago and reflect on the years I spent reading and studying Islam I remember coming across the writings of Maqdisi. I used to read his articles on the minbar tawheed site and read all his books that have spread over the internet. And it was clear to me that he had a big influence in the salafi jihad movement. He was and is still known to be Al Qaeda’s spiritual mentor and supporting Sheikhs. Some of his books and articles were inspiring and were good at explaining the aqeedah and tawheed of this religion. It was clear to me that he was firm and living his life to stand up to and against the taghut. I enjoyed reading many of his works. And I respected his stance and dedication because it reflected upon with what I was reading from Quran and Hadith. I was reading things from a man who was writing from his prison cell in Jordan only because he was saying and the truth about jihad and the true stance of tawheed in the faces of the kuffar governments.
For the brothers of tawheed and jihad, the truth is clear but we still need leaders and sheikhs working hard to wake up the minds of the Muslims. People of steadfastness and firmness, examples in this Ummah who we can look upon and gain some deeper understanding and depth from. Abu Muhammad Al Maqdisi was one of those examples for me.
Al Qaeda was also the group that anyone who understood jihad, sacrifice and the concepts of sharia and khilafah was drawn to. Their aims, objectives and principles were clear to any Muslim desiring to restore the honor and strength of Islam. Anyone who understood the Wests war against Islam and the suffering of the Muslims worldwide at the hands of the arab regimes and their western allies had a passion in their hearts to join the jihad. You desired to a live a life dedicated to fighting the satanic forces of America and their allies and live as the Sahaba did. Afghanistan and the Pakistan border were the places you wanted to make it to. It was seen as a base to start from, to launch the worldwide jihad from that would cripple the Western systems. So people like Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Zawahiri and Mullah Omar were those that you desired to support and strive with. They were seen as the true Muslims of today, examples for us to follow. People chosen by Allah to start the movement, aid and support the religion. People looking towards the hereafter and turning away from the beauty of this temporary world. They were seen as the leaders of the worldwide jihad movement, the veterans of iman and sacrifice.
Then Osama Bin Laden was killed, and the west celebrated and claimed Al Qaeda had died and the mujahideen were now close to defeat. And in reality the jihad operations nearly came to a stop, video production was at a low, and those involved in the events and those begging Allah to be a part of it were patiently waiting for a new opening, a new page in history to come across. And things slowed down for many years with no new events. Muslims were still suffering around the world and the mujahideen were in the deserts, caves and mountains pushed back and out of the cities, urban and strategic places. This sad and difficult stage went on for many years.
Then the jihad in Syria started. Believers from every corner of the world left their countries and made hijrah to Sham (Syria) to join the jihad in the land of Sham. Just as the Hadiths spoke of. The end time revelations spoke of these events and now here they were taking form in front of us. Every Muslim who was sincere with a passion for jihad who couldn’t make it it Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia or Iraq in the past, was now leaving it all and heading to Syria. Many jihad and so-called jihad groups were formed in the name of establishing the Sharia and an Islamic State were going to battle with the Syrian regime. Syrian people and Muhajireen were fighting side by side all over the country to bring down the government. Some groups were being funded by America and the West and some were funded by the Arab governments. Money was flowing in from everywhere and weapons were being piled up and used against the system of kufr. Then after some time it started to become clear to those present and aware of reality who was truly fighting for the religion of Allah and who was a puppet being funded and supported by the western and arab intelligence agencies. By this time it was clear to the kuffar countries of the west that there was a pure movement on the ground of mujahideen that were united in fighting the Syrian government and who’s intentions were purely to form and establish an Islamic State.
When this was apparent they started directing their proxies, the Syrian rebels and many so-called Islamic groups to ignore the Syrian amry, focus unite and fight against the groups of mujahideen and muhajireen.
What they fear most is an Islamic State being created in the heart of the Middle East. So all these groups of secularists, nationalists, rebel groups and so-called Islamic groups started putting their differences aside and uniting to fight the mujahideen, the real Muslims purely fighting for the revival of Islam. This time was a time of fitna, it exposed and made clear who was who. The fitna of Jabhat Al Nusra betraying the Islamic State and uniting with many of the rebel groups took place and then many other groups united and formed one group making their target the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham. Many of you should be aware of the situation between Jabhat Al Nusra and the Islamic State.
In short, the Islamic State in Iraq under the command of Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi created and organized a group of mujahideen in Iraq to travel to Syria and start jihad operations against the Syrian regime. They took on the name “Jabhat Al Nusra” under the command of Abu Muhammad Jolani (Syrian). And Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi chose the members, and funded them with weapons and all the resources needed to start a base of operations in Syria. The details of this group being part of and under the command of the Islamic State were kept secret and away from public information as a part of security and strategy. Not soon after Jabhat Al Nusra started operations in Syria they became famous and known as a powerful fighting force against the regime. They made a name for themselves and became very strong, they were mostly muhajireen and were taking tons of weapons and ganeemah (treasures of war) from their battles. They performed successful martyrdom operations around Syria and it started to become clear that this group had ties to Al Qaeda. Known as a new branch of Al Qaeda formed in Syria. I happened to be with this movement and was witness to what had took place. Not soon after Jabhat al Nusra’s victories Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi wade a public statement claiming that Jabhat Nusra was a branch of the Islamic State and that the Islamic State of Iraq had now become the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham and that it was now one group with one flag and was formed to create one united Islamic State of Iraq and Syria without borders. This was an effort to break down the borders forced on us by the kuffar and unite the Muslims under the religion of Islam. Immediately Abu Muhammad Al Jolani, the appointed amir of Jabhat Al Nusra denies and rejected the claims of Abu Bakr, saying that it was never an entity of the Islamic State, claiming that it was only a Syrian group fighting in Syria and that it had pledged allegiance to Ayman Zawahiri, the amir of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.
This immediately caused disruption and disunity for the mujahideen in Syria. Jabhat Al Nusra was almost entirely made up of muhaiireen from around the world with a small fraction of Syrian fighters. When these statements were made, about 90% of all the mujahireen of Jabhat Nusra’s group left them and joined the newly established group of Islamic State in Syria. This caused Jabhat Al Nusra to immediately hate the Islamic State. But very quickly the Islamic State formed and grew strong taking over huge parts of Syria and Iraq. The group established sharia in all of the lands under its control and in just over 1 year the group controlled a piece of land bigger than Great Britain. They then announced and established the Islamic State Khilafah under the leader and Caliph Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi. This immediately angered and posed a huge threat to the West. So they united and formed a worldwide coalition to stop and destroy the newly formed Islamic State. They used everything they had, and this was when the world media forgot all about Bashar Assad and the Syrian Regimes crimes against Muslims. The Islamic State had now become the new face of terror, the new threat to the kuffars systems.
Many of the groups fighting in Syria call themselves by Islamic names to deceive the people. They claim to be moderate Muslims with moderate goals. To take down the Syrian regime and create a better Syria for all Syrian people. To have somewhat of an Islamic democracy that pleases the West, but anyone aware of the past and the motives of the kuffar see’s clearly past this deception. These are just new games and pawns used in the hands of the West to help the fight against Islam and Muslims. Jabhat Nusra who claims to be a part of Al Qaeda, works with many of these apostate groups against the Islamic State.
We now see that the whole world is united in fighting the Islamic State without exception, including Al Qaeda’s Syrian branch Jabhat Nusra.
Now about Jabhat Al Nusra, we must be truthful. They work with the Syrian rebel groups, some funded and working for the kuffar of the west and others just fighting for Nationalism etc. And these groups don’t hide their intentions and goals, they speak very openly about freedom and democracy for all Syrians. They have videos and written reports about their ties to the west and Arab governments. As for Al Nusra, they do not establish the Shaira any of the areas they control, they do not enforce the religion of Allah, the hijab, the establishment of prayer etc. In reality they fight against those who control and establish the deen of Allah in every inch of land they control. They even go as far as killing Muslims and assassinating the Amirs of other groups who oppose fighting the Islamic State and who only focus on fighting the Syrian regime. So to them, if you refuse to fight the Islamic State then you must be part of the Islamic State and they will kill you and assassinate your Amirs claiming you are with them. They do this while at the same time make claims that the Islamic State is khawarij fighting and killing Muslims and mujahideen.
We say yes, the Islamic State kills the muskrik Shia Iraqi soldiers and Shia militias that fight Muslims, yes we kill the apostates that spy and work for the Western and Arab governments, yes, we do kill the Iranian agents and secular PKK and Peshmerger atheists, yes we do fight the Free Syrian army who is nothing but a agent of America funded to create a new democratic Syria under the command of America, yes we fight other groups in Syria who ally themselves with the kuffar supporting their goals and objectives in Syria. We fight all the enemies of this religion and who are classified as enemies of Islam according to the Sharia.
And Allah says,
“Anyone who takes them (disbelievers) as a friend protector or ally, verily he is one of them!”
So we say yes, we fight the enemies of Allah, the secularists, the atheists, those in jihad for the west and democracy, the spies, and armies of sahwat, the shia and alawites etc. regardless of race of color or land of origin. Anyone who is fighting against Islam and sharia will meet our swords regardless if his name is Abdullah or Matthew.
We are not fighting to bring down the disbelieving governments and evil leaders, just for them to be replaced by another, we are fighting for the establishment of Islam and our aims and objectives are clear.
Now that this is clear we move onto to Al Qaeda and Abu Muhammad Al Maqdisi. Maqdisi and the Umara (leaders) of Al Qaeda seriously see themselves as the leaders and godfathers of jihad. No one can do anything without their approval and they have to approve of and control everything. They are the masters and you and I are all under their command. Yes Al Qaeda has fought jihad in Afghanistan and conducted operations around the world for the sake of Allah. But Al Qaeda itself calls itself an organization, and that is exactly what it was. It was a movement to launch jihad against the State. They waged a jihad for many years and we love them for that. They have inspired the Ummah to stand up to the kuffar, to become aware of their plans and plots and have helped so many become aware of the true reality of Muslims and the religion. But in reality they do not control any land, any cities, or any resources vital to establishing a state. The do not control massive lands where Muslims are dependent upon them. They do not control any big area of land to establish the sharia in. And, in the small areas they control they do not establish the sharia. So they are just setting up a base in the mountains to maintain control over the other Al Qaeda factions and giving orders. They do not control anything anywhere. And since Osama Bin Laden was killed, and Zawahiri took over as the amir, what has Al Qaeda done?
They have been silent and obsolete for years. And when the Islamic State takes over a huge amount of territory from Diyala in Iraq to Aleppo in Syria with support from thousands of muhajireen from around the world and local ansar, and with literally millions of Muslims living under their authority, the Qaeda organization and its sheikhs denounce the State/khilafah and plot against it. And their leaders and sheikhs such as Zawahiri, Maqdisi and Abu Qatada claim that they are the leaders and veterans of jihad and no one consulted and asked their approval before announcing the State/khilafah.
Who are they anyway, and who needs their permission and approval to establish the State/khilafah. As for Maqdisi he was refuted by Abu Musob Zarqawi in the past for standing against the mujahideen in Iraq https://ansaaar1.wordpress.com/2015/04/15/abu-musab-zarqawis-reply-to-sheikh-abu-muhammad-al-maqdisi/
Also, Maqdisi himself was not a mujahid in Afghanistan, he arrived shortly after the fighting had ended and visited the leaders and then started his dawah in Jordan. And Zawahiri was a well known supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Zawahiri’s mistakes in Aqeeda have become know to everyone over the past few years. This is not the original Al Qaeda or jihad that we love and recognize.
When we see clear deviation we must be honest and choose the truth over anything else. And these so-called leaders and sheikhs are the most outspoken of people against the Islamic State misleading the Muslims about the reality of the State/khilafah. Abu Qatada was in prisons in Britain over the last 15 years, Maqdisi was in and out of prison of many years as well and like Qatada wrote many books on the subjects of jihad and Aqeeda and Zawahiri was there next to Sheikh Osama, and since the Sheikhs death Al Qaeda has been inactive and reduced to only a few brothers in its central command. Most have been killed over the years and the rest have recognized reality for what it is and have left them and joined the Islamic State.
Who are these sheikhs and leaders to dictate over us and tell us when and how to establish the sharia and Islamic State. Allah has blessed the Islamic State with so many blessing and they want to stop it and keep it under their control and inactive. The brothers in the Islamic State work for Allah and have fulfilled their obligations towards Allah and not towards individuals. The Islamic State has been established and spread by the will of Allah in such a short amount of time and instead of supporting the state/khilafah and uniting with it they are slandering it and trying to overthrow it. And Zawahiri gave orders and approved for the now known rebel group Jabhat Nusra to fight the Islamic State and then when the State alsmot wiped them out in Deir Azzor he called to halt the fighting, and Al Maqdisi has written in approval of fighting the state and repelling their so-called aggression towards the apostate rebel groups. To those involved and on the ground the truth is crystal clear. We want out brothers and sisters to understand the reality of what is happening in Sham (Syria) and not just for ourselves but because these events and lands play a huge role in how the future events in the end will evolve. You must see the reality and truth for what it it and know your role in all of it. We ask Allah to reward all those leaders and sheikhs for their works and everything that has benefitted the Ummah’ but we do not worship individuals and blindly follow anyone. These leaders and sheiks are of the past, they played their roles and today we sadly see their deceit and treachery. We are in a new time, the Islamic State has been established, the khilafah is in effect, and the events of the end times are approaching. We must awaken and prepare ourselves for these tests. Wake up to the truth, see reality for what it is and do your part in supporting this religion, thus achieving success for yourself.
As for Maqdisi, what was he thinking when he went on the Jordanian government channel new in an interview to speak against the Islamic State? Did he feel it necessary to go on the the taghut news and defend jihad to the government loving Jordanian public and explain to them that Islam is free from the actions of the Khalifah? Can’t Maqdisi understand that the mujahideen on the ground understand the reality better than he can in Jordan?
Also dosent Maqdisi understand that he is not an amir or religious authority over the mujahideen? And why is he going in cicles with the situation is Syria? Cant he see that these so called rebel groups are only working for democracy, a free Syria, policies of the west, and are opposed to anything Islamic? Are we just to maintain love with them and compromise our religion and sharia to be in good relations with them? No Maqdisi we will fight them and anyone who fights against the sharia and opposes the establishment of Islam! Anyone in Sham working with and on behalf of the West and their policies will meet see our jihad whether their flag is black or green.
His hatred and disapproval of the mujahideen has blinded him. Doesn’t he see that under the khalifah are millions of Muslims and thousands upon thousands of mujahideen and also many that Allah has blessed with ilm and experience. Does he not see that Allah can honor someone with knowledge and understanding and elevate him over the status of Maqdisi? Is Maqdisi the only scholar who supports jihad? Does he still think that supporting the Al Nusra Jolani Front and its fake Islamic allies in Syria against the Islamic state is the truth?!
Havent these so called Islamic rebel groups just openly claimed to support Turkey’s war against the Islamic State by creating a buffer zone on the Turkish border? Is this buffer zone to support Islam or America and the NATO member Turkey’s plan to try and stop the deen of Allah from spreading beyond Syria? By Allah he is blind, misinformed and has nifaq (hypocrisy) in his heart if he can’t see the truth in front of him. Maybe he is content working against the mujahideen from his home in Jordan. Is he unable to reflect on that, and understand that we are not in need of his fatwas and approval, that Allah has blessed us with brothers of knowledge and action and better understanding of the reality? His hatred and pride has gotten the best of him and I think he would rather die than say the truth about the Islamic State.
Look recently to the situation in Jarabalous. Under America’s orders the Turkish government ordered its allies in Syria, all sahwat factions and mostly fighters from Ahrar Al Sham to abandon ribat in the city of Aleppo and come inside Turkey and work beside the Turkish Army to push the Islamic State out of Jarabalous, a small city on the Syrian Turkey border. So, these 5,000 to 10,000 fighters abandoned the Muslims of Aleppo to the Syrian army to come to turkey and fight alongside its NATO army to push the Islamic State from off its border. Now after this operation, the US and Russia agreed on a ceasefire in northern Syria and allowed the Syrian army to surround and take control of Aleppo city. Are these Muslims or Mujahideen or criminals or just a group of gangsters taking orders from its American and Turkish Leaders? They have ruined the situation in Syria and have done nothing but corrupt the land and allow Bashar Assad to stay in power and maintain control over more territory.
Now if you look, the Turish Army is working with the Russian air force to try and take the small city of Al Bab in Aleppo province away from the Islamic State, and guess who’s fighting on the ground supporting them? So in other words, Turkey is working with Russia, which means that Turkey is supporting the Syrian Army which means that the hypocrites claiming to be mujahideen are in reality helping Bahsar Assad. These same groups claim to be Islamic mujahideen! May Allah destroy and humiliate them, how deviated they are.
In the very beginning the Islamic State advised them and made clear to them that taking aid and weapons from the kuffar would do nothing but turn into a war against the mujahideen and in the end they would be commanded to make peace with Bashar. And look at the situation now.
We the mujahideen in the Islamic State made takfir on these groups earlier and made the truth known about them to the world, but our words went ignored and rejected by the so called scholars and jihad sheikhs. Meanwhile, Maqdisi is playing around with his fatwas and takfir based on his desires. Now the truth is coming out about who all these so called mujahideen are and it’s clear for everyone to see. The mujahideen of the Islamic State have been speaking the truth with evidence from the start and afterwards were labeled as extremists and khawarij. Like I said my brothers and sisters before, think for yourselves and don’t blindly follow anyone. These days are deceiving and may appear clouded but the truth is always there and will come out in time. You must use your Imaan to see through the confusion. After all of this you shouldn’t have to ask yourself who is fighting under the banner of La Illah Ill Allah? My brothers and sisters support and join the ranks of believers.
Over all it is clear and known that Jordan has a large number of Muslims that ascribe to the jihad ideology. Many of them have been part of, or in support of Al Qaeda since it started in the past. And the Jordan government and intelligence services know this fact. So they released Maqdisi and allowed Abu Qatada to live free to prevent everyone who supports jihad and Al Qaeda from leaving to join or support the Islamic State.
We even see that people like Abu Qatada and his Jabhat Al Nusra supporters we celebrating on twitter and pleased when Abu Omar Al Chechani and Abu Muhammad Adnani were killed in US airstrikes. And these sheikhs and people really believe they are following the true path of jihad? All I can say is Subhan’Allah how things have changed. Al Qaeda is no threat to Jordan but the Islamic State is a clear and open threat to its existence much like Syria and Iraq. So in reality Maqdisi was set free and allowed to preach to serve Jordan’s interests and survival. All his work now is somehow linked or indirectly in support of the Jordan Government and clearly against any support for the Islamic State. When you read his old writing and compare them with his stance today, you ask yourself, is this really the same person?
The list of examples go on and on and everyday new realities are unfolding and the truth is becoming clearer by the day. But is is important to see the truth before the confusion fades away. Time is of the essence. I could possibly write a novel about this subject but in the end, Maqdisi is free from us and we are free from him and the battles of truth and falsehood will continue. The Ummah needs leaders, men who can guide the Muslims, stand for the truth in their words and in their actions. People like Anwar Al Awlaki who worked and sacrificed and didn’t compromise the religion. In the end all I can say is Allah alone is sufficient for the believers and witness over all things.
I wrote this article a few months ago and anyone following the situation has seen much of what I wrote about unfold. Things have become a disaster in many ways and the tests are upon us. I also want to say to all of those worldwide who are unable to make hijrah to us, to be patient and intelligent and insha’Allah in time Allah will open up the doors for you to be able to support this religion. For the time being keep your hearts connected to Allah. May Allah allow this article be of some benefit for the sincere. Salam’Alaykum, your brother from the Islamic State. February 2017.
